Ever stumbled upon a spot with a story that’s as captivating as the views? That’s exactly what you’ll find with this historical gem. Built back in 1860, this lighthouse had a bit of a rough start, it only did its job until 1889 before being swapped out for a better-suited one at Point Perpendicular. The Royal Australian Navy even used it for target practice in the early 20th century, which is a bit of a wild twist in its story.

Despite its rather short-lived glory, the ruins of the lighthouse are now a fascinating part of Australia’s maritime history. They sit proudly within Booderee National Park, offering some truly breathtaking views. The coastal cliffs with the ocean crashing against them create a scene that’s nothing short of spectacular. I caught it at sunrise, and let me tell you, it was an absolutely magical way to kick off the day. And if you’re an early riser like me, keep your eyes peeled for kangaroos and wallabies, they’re super adorable and add an extra touch of charm to the experience!
