The Castle of Good Hope is an historical fort in Cape Town, South Africa. Built in the 17th century by the Dutch East India Company, it's the oldest building in the country. Originally on the coast, it's now inland due to land reclamation. The castle has seen some action during the Second Boer War and even housed a famous prisoner who tried to escape by digging through the walls with a spoon. Today, it's a historical monument and home to the Cape Town Highlanders Regiment. Plus, it has a museum inside that tells the story of South Africa's diverse heritage.
