Leith is a historic port well worth visiting on a trip to the city of Edinburgh. It's full of amazing restaurants (including many Michelin starred ones), great pubs and cafés and is just genuinely lovely to walk through all year around. Now the tram also takes you right down here so it's even easier to get to!

Some history:

Popular with merchants and shipowners during the 16th century, Leith was the site of conflicts and sieges from the 15th through 17th centuries. Mary of Guise and her daughter Mary Queen of Scots even made brief stops here. During the 18th century, new industries flourished and numerous public works were established, making Leith a vibrant and modern community with many entertainment options for locals and visitors alike.
