Miyako-jima is a beautiful, tropical island located 300 kilometres southwest of Okinawa Island in Japan's Okinawa Prefecture. It is the fourth-largest island in the prefecture and features limestone formations, picturesque beaches, and lush forests. The island plays host to unique events such as Paantu, a festival wherein three men wearing masks and garlands of grass and leaves 'bless' homes and people by smearing them with mud.
