The Dōgo Onsen Main Building, a historic symbol of Matsuyama City, is known as the oldest hot spring in Japan with a history dating back 3,000 years. Designated as a National Important Cultural Property, it's currently undergoing conservational repair work until December 2024. Despite the ongoing construction, the bathhouse remains open for visitors to enjoy its rejuvenating waters. Thanks to the dedication of many involved, including contractors and locals, the entire building, including the resting rooms, reopened in July 2024 after five and a half years. So, if you're looking for a unique and culturally rich onsen experience, Dōgo Onsen Main Building is definitely worth a visit!
