Viewers can admire Japan’s largest Buddha statue at Shindaiji Temple located in the city of Katsuyama, Fukui Prefecture. At 17 meters high, also known as Echizen Daibutsu, this 2 meter taller than Todai-ji Temple’s Big Buddha of Nara. The towering yet serene bronze figure is flanked by statues and boasts golden lotus flowers in hand, welcoming visitors with its ethereal beauty. Inside the hall lies an array of Kannon statues, a vast golden lantern, and floral decorations that render it majestic against the silence.
