The day of the waterfalls.
You are driving the Ring Road in eastern direction (nr.1 direction Vík). The first waterfall you are stopping at is Urriðafoss. This waterfall is located along the longest river in Iceland called Þjórsá. It is named after the Icelandic word of trout. This waterfall is a popular spot for fishermen who are fishing trout and salmon in the river.
The second waterfall is called Ægissíðufoss. For me this waterfall is very special due to its surroundings. It is surrounded by volcanos like Hekla, Eyjafjallajökull and the volcanic mountains Tindfjöll. I enjoy this hidden gem every time I am visiting it.
The third water fall is a very popular waterfall. It is called Seljalandsfoss. A waterfall like out of a fairytale as you can walk behind it in summertime. After that you are going to head to Gljúfrábúi waterfall which is only 500 meters away from Seljalandsfoss. It is my personal favorite waterfall in Iceland. The water is falling into a cave like canyon and becoming wet definitely pays definitely off for this experience.
Waterfall number five is called Skógarfoss and impresses with the amount of water falling down this high cliff. It is incredibly impressive when standing close to it.
Who still has the power can walk afterwards to the in about 30 minutes walking distance located Kvernufoss. You can also walk behind this waterfall but it is not as crowded as Seljalandsfoss.
I would recommend to stay in a guesthouse or hotel which is somewhere between Skógarfoss and Vík to have the best start for your next day.
