Kerið is a crater located in the south of Iceland close to Selfoss. The outstanding red color of the ground is underlined by the blue water of the crater lake in the center. In summer the green of the bushes and other plants is making the color experience even more special.

Kerið is approximately 3,000 years old and is approximately 55 meters deep. The crater is approximately 270 meters in diameter and is filled with a deep blue lake. The crater walls are composed of red volcanic rock and are quite steep. The lake is a popular tourist destination and is known for its stunning views and unique geological features.

The walking path around the carter is easy to walk which takes about 15 minutes. Even though the path is good and not very long I would recommend to wear hiking boots.
