Hrunalaug is a very natural hot pool which is actually one of my personal favorites. It is located close to Fluðir in South Iceland on private farmland. The owners started to charge 1,000ISK as the place became more and more popular.

This pool used to be the place to wash sheep before shearing them. Still today this place is very original and a small Icelandic turf house beside the pool can be used as a changing room. There are two pools. One is small and the other is not as small. The small pool can be reached directly from the house and is a perfect spot for pictures with the original Icelandic turf house in the background. The other pool is a bit bigger and it is possible to sit in there to spend some time with your travel partners or get to know new people who are also stopping along their way to take a dip in this original hot spring. If you want to be able to drink something in the pool you have to take it with you as there is no shop or any other facilities directly at the hot spring. But please take all your trash with you in order to keep our nature clean.

I think this is an extraordinary experience for everyone who likes to take baths in original pools and does not mind if there are no other facilities. Furthermore, this place offers a very traditional atmosphere and one can imagine how vikings were taking their baths in the earlier days.
