The Lisbon Cathedral or ‘Sé’ is a stunning architectural gem located in the heart of Lisbon, Portugal. Built in 1147, it is the oldest cathedral in the city and is the seat of the Patriarchate of Lisbon. Throughout its history, the cathedral has seen many modifications and renovations, making it a unique mix of different architectural styles; Romanesque, Gothic, and even Baroque make an appearance. Impressive façades of two flanking towers and crenellations adorn the exterior, while inside visitors are awed by the intricate Gothic tombs, arched galleries, and illuminated rose windows. And for those interested in the history of this beautiful building, there are plenty of archaeological remains from Roman, Moorish, and Mediaeval eras. Lisbon Cathedral is truly a magical and mysterious place to explore!
