Upper Slaughter is a historic village in the Cotswold district of Gloucestershire, England. It has been described as “the best-preserved small village in the Cotswolds” and offers visitors many attractions, including its beautiful countryside and its connection to the past. The River Eye winds through Upper Slaughter, with a ford offering breath-taking views and a footbridge allowing visitors to explore. The 11th century Anglican parish church is dedicated to St. Peter, and the Tudor era manor house, Upper Slaughter Manor, boasts a crypt from the 14th century. The village is also noteworthy for having earned the designation of "Thankful Village" - losing no men to both World Wars. Furthermore, nearby, visitors can find the Grade I Listed property, Home Farmhouse, the Castle Mound, and Rose Row cottages, all of which are worth seeing. Visitors to this Cotswold village are sure to experience an idyllic time intertwined with history.
