Lacock Abbey is a stunning and fun country house experience full of quirky history and breathtaking views. It was once a 13th century nunnery, and is now full of surprises around every corner. Visitors can explore the magnificently furnished rooms, stroll through enchanting medieval cloisters, and discover the extraordinary Gothick hall. The birthplace of modern photography, William Henry Fox Talbot's inventions and achievements are celebrated in both the Abbey itself and the museum of photography, which also hosts a rolling programme of photography exhibitions. Beyond the Abbey grounds lies an iconic quintessential English village with independent shops to explore. Perfect for a family day out, visitors can enjoy seasonal activities and trails around the grounds with plenty of space to picnic, plus regular programmes for groups and families.
