The Chiang Kai-Shek Shilin Residence, located in Taipei, Taiwan, used to be the home of former Republic of China President Chiang Kai-shek. It was originally a horticultural experimental station during the Japanese Colonial era but was later transformed into the residence by architect Yang Cho-cheng. The property includes beautiful gardens with both Chinese and Western-style horticulture, as well as the two-story western-style home where Chiang and his wife Soong Mei-ling lived. The residence is now open to the public and is a popular spot for visitors to enjoy the gardens and explore the historical significance of the place. Fun fact: there's even a hidden tunnel that connects the residence to the Presidential Office Building in Taipei!
