Let me share why our Japanese family recommended Joypolis, even though we had to skip it:
They say it's like SEGA created their own indoor amusement park in Odaiba - perfect for when the weather doesn't cooperate with your Tokyo plans. Our family particularly recommended it for its mix of virtual reality attractions and arcade games that you can't find anywhere else.
What makes it special apparently is how they blend traditional rides with cutting-edge technology - it's not just arcade games or just rides, but this uniquely Japanese fusion of both. Located in Odaiba means you're also right by other attractions like teamLab and the giant Gundam statue.
But with limited time and so much else to see in Tokyo, this one had to go on our "next time" list. Our family understood - they said while it's great fun, especially on rainy days, it's not something you need to prioritize over temples, gardens, and other uniquely Japanese experiences if your time is limited.
