Hvalsneskirkja is a charming stone church located in Hvalsnes on the Reykjanes peninsula in Iceland. It was built back in 1886-87 and has a beautiful altarpiece that was remade from Iceland's main Lutheran church. One interesting relic inside is the tombstone of Steinunn Hallgrimsdottir, daughter of the famous hymn poet and priest Hallgrimur Petursson. He actually served in Hvalsnes for a while too! So if you're in the area, make sure to check out this historic and picturesque church.
