This is one of the most unique things you could see in the world.

For those adventurers seeking the magic in the sky, this place is unbelievable. During 200 days of the approximately from may until december there are nightly electrical discharges.

This amazing phenomenon is generated because the high temperatures in the lake that is sorounded with the venezuelan cold andes mountains and with the strong winds it creates a mix of different temperatures and as consequence you have this Guinness world record for being the place with the most lightning, some 20,000 flashes per hour.

To visit Ologá the floating village where you can see the lighting bolts you need to travel to "El Vigía" preferably by plane and then take a car for 2 hours until "Puerto Concha" where you will take a boat for 3-4 hours surrounded by spectacular endemic fauna. I suggest you to stay at least 2 nights because although there are big chances of watching them in the first night it is a natural phenomenon and nature is very unpredictable, also, you will have 2 days to capture pictures like the ones in this post.

I suggest you to bring a camera with timelapse included and a tripod.

Also the only way to go there is hiring a tour guide, because if you go by your own there are no frequent boats, transportation to Ologá or food vendors over there, so everything needs to be prepared in advance. I suggest you travel with www.socoadventures.net they can arrange everything for you not only for this tour but for anyone you want to do in Venezuela, also they care about your security and logistics since you arrive in the airport.

In their website there is a wahtsapp button where you can chat with them and customized you experience in the Catatumbo tour or the entire country.
