Sólheimar is a tiny town on the Golden Circle. But for some reason, not many people know about it. There's about a 100 people that live in this town. Half of them are "disabled" and have of them are "abled". They live and work together here in the greenhouses, the art workshops, the restaurant and the little shops. The town is renowned for its ecological, artistic, and international community.
In the summer of 2020, when the whole world was in lockdown, I traveled to the south of Iceland and stumbled upon this tiny village. I had never heard of it before, but was immediately intrigued when I got there. And ended up staying for a month. I worked in the greenhouse and helped in the ceramics workshop some days as well.
If you want to experience the charm of this tiny town, you should definitely stay here for a night or two. It is right on the Golden Circle, so from there you can go and explore the area.
