Take a hike below Earth's surface - right here in Upstate NY!
With it's intriguing geology and fascinating history dating back millions of years, Howe Caverns is one of the most unique and interesting things to do in Upstate NY.
Inside the cave, you'll find a magnificent subterranean world, captivating limestone formations, an underground river, and enchanting stalactites and stalagmites.
You can only visit the cave as part of a tour and you MUST book tickets online in advance (use the link below).
As of June 2023, the general admission price for adults is $27, with discounts available for seniors, children, and groups.
The cave tour consists of a 1.25 mile walk with a 0.25 mile boat ride. There are also 139 stairs throughout the cave tour.
The cavern's ambient temperature stays at a consistent 52 degrees (F) all year round, so definitely bring a light jacket even in the summer because it gets chilly.
If you want a adventurous experience, you can opt for the lantern tour or spelunking, although these require additional fees and advance reservations.
