This hike to two gorgeous alpine lakes is maybe my very favorite autumn hike in Switzerland. In late October, the golden larch trees turn bright yellow and light up this mountain landscape like magic. We did the long version of this hike, starting at the parking and hiking all the way up the valley, which I thoroughly enjoyed.

But if you plan ahead and reserve a precious spot on the small shuttle bus, you can reach the first lake in only 20 minutes by foot, a good alternative for families and casual hikers that don’t want to work so hard. You can optionally do a 5.5. km loop to reach the second lake, definitely recommended.

See trail map.
