The Tierser Alpl refuge is a charming mountain hut located on the saddle of the same name in the Dolomites. It serves as a meeting point for hikers and offers a place to seek refuge, enjoy a meal, and take in the stunning mountain views. Here's a guide on how to get to Tierser Alpl:
To start your journey, head to Alpe di Siusi (Kompatsch). You have a few options for reaching this starting point. You can drive to the Compatsch Parking lot, but please note that the Alpe di Siusi is only accessible by car before 9 am or after 5 pm, as it is closed for traffic during the day. Alternatively, you can choose to stay at one of the hotels or accommodations on Alpe di Siusi and begin your hike from there.
If you prefer, you can park at the Santners Gondola and take the cable car to the top. The round trip fare for the cable car is 24€, and it provides a convenient way to reach the starting point.
Once you're at Alpe di Siusi, embark on the hiking route to Tierser Alpl. Follow path no. 2, which will lead you to the Panorama-Goldknopf and the "Walrus Tusk Gap." The trail takes you on a gradual ascent along the slopes of Grunser Bühel and Punta d'Oro, leading you toward the Denti di Terra Rossa ridge.
Continue climbing on path no. 2 as it winds its way up in serpentines over rock boulders, eventually bringing you to Forcella dei Denti di Terrarossa, a mountain pass situated at 2499m above sea level. Once you reach this point, take a few minutes to enjoy the surroundings before continuing.
From Forcella dei Denti di Terrarossa, head south on path no. 2, which will lead you directly to Tierser-Alpl hut. The hike from the starting point to Tierser-Alpl hut typically takes around 2 hours and 20 minutes.
Upon arriving at Tierser-Alpl hut (2438m), you can take a well-deserved rest and enjoy the cozy atmosphere. The refuge offers meals and beverages, providing an opportunity to refuel and relax while taking in the breathtaking mountain peaks that surround you.
Remember, hiking in the Dolomites can be physically demanding, so it's crucial to be well-prepared. Wear appropriate hiking gear, carry enough water and food, and be aware of the weather conditions.
