Yasaka Pagoda is one of Kyoto’s most iconic landmarks, and seeing it both up close and from a distance was an absolute highlight for me.
There’s something magical about spotting its five-tiered silhouette rising above the old streets of Higashiyama.
While it gets crazy crowded during the day, I highly recommend going at sunrise. There’s nothing like experiencing Kyoto calm and empty.
The whole area feels completely different when it’s quiet, making for an unforgettable moment (and the best photos!).
I'd put this right at the top of your list as a must-see in Kyoto.
