One of the highlights of Cradle Mountain National Park is walking the boardwalk at Ronny Creek (the start of the famous Overland Track)
This is a favourite of ours because this is where you are most likely to see a wombat! They love hanging around the trail in the buttongrass. You can go as far or as little as you like. Make sure to keep you eyes peeled for platypus in the streams that flow under the boardwalk too (which are furry and much larger in Tasmania than the mainland!)
A few things to note before you go:
Cradle Mountain is only accessible by shuttle bus from the visitor centre between the hours of 8am and 6pm (summer) or 9am and 5pm (winter). The cost of the shuttle bus is included in your national parks pass and buses leave every 15 mins. Outside of these hours you can drive to Ronny Creek
Accomodation (including camping) is very limited in Cradle Mountain, particularly in peak season. Book this as far in advance as possible. If you are camping and don't get a spot in Cradle Mountain Discovery Parks then you can free camp at Lake Gairdner campsite 30km away (on wikicamps)
