The Skellig Islands, located off the coast of the stunning Ring of Kerry in Ireland, are home to a variety of fascinating wildlife, including a colony of Atlantic puffins. These charming birds, known for their distinctive beaks and brightly colored plumage, nest on the steep cliffs of Skellig Michael and Little Skellig from April to August each year. Visitors to the islands can observe the puffins up close, either by hiking to the top of Skellig Michael or taking a boat tour around the islands. The Skelligs are also home to a variety of other seabirds, including gannets, kittiwakes, and shearwaters. In addition to its wildlife, the Skellig Islands are also home to a remarkable monastic settlement that dates back to the 6th century, which has been designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Overall, a trip to the Skellig Islands is a unique and unforgettable experience for nature lovers and history buffs alike.

Make sure to book in advance though, the trips go out from portmagee on the Iveragh peninsula just south of valentia island.
