Rheinschlucht, also known as the Ruinaulta or Swiss Grand Canyon, is a stunning natural wonder located in Switzerland. This breathtaking gorge was formed by the Vorderrhein river, which eroded a massive landslide deposit over thousands of years. The result is a deep canyon with towering cliffs and picturesque views. Visitors can explore the area through various hiking trails, allowing them to witness the beauty of lakes, forests, and the majestic Rhine River. For those seeking adventure, kayaking and canoeing are also popular activities in this awe-inspiring landscape. So, if you're looking for a memorable experience surrounded by nature's grandeur, Rheinschlucht is definitely worth a visit.
There are men ways to explore the gorge, by bike, by hike or by train. Here I would like to show you the most perfect view point the II Spir.
The Spir viewpoint located a few minutes away from Restaurant Conn. The platform was made in 2006. Here you get a great 180 degree view of the gorge and the surrounding mountains.
From Flims Waldhaus to get here you need to hike 45 minutes on a stroller friendly hiking path. It is accessible all year around. If you want you can combine this view point with Caumasee. The best combination for a day trip.
There are many other view points to check out the view from, more on flimslaax.com
TIP:
HIKING TOUR: From Vale's to Versam you can hike right next to the river. Follow the bends of the river, get into a small but rich forest area then enjoy the meadow. Recommended getting a practical Ruinaulta ticket which allows you to use the public transportation around the Rhine gorge for the entire day.
