The Wägitalersee is a popular recreational area located in the canton of Schwyz, Switzerland, with breathtaking mountains and an artificial reservoir created via the powerplant and dam Schräh. This stunning lake, which used to be a small village, offers plenty of exciting activities including , fishing, hiking, biking and picnicking - perfect for a family day out! With the lake's crystal clear waters and endless views, visitors won't need to look elsewhere for a fun and memorable experience.

HIKE DETAILS: Start: Innerthal. There is a bus going up to the village or you can drive up. Parking spaces are limited and fee is quite high in Innerthal but if you wish to not pay there is a free parking spot accross the dam. So insted of driving towards Innerthal, drive thru the dam and park on the side of the road.

The hike around the lake is long but flat. I recommend to do the entire cirlce for beautiful views. The entire hike is 12,8 km with only 43 meters of elevation. Totally doable with children or even with stroller.

You also visit the lake in winter, it is even more magical with all the snow and the blue lake together.

TIP: if you feel like for some elevation take a hike from Innerthal towards Schwarzenegg höchi then to Bockmattli peak (1932 meter) . Elevation gain is around 900 meter so it would be definitely a good challenge.
