Located in the Canton of Glarus, Switzerland, Lake Obersee offers a serene and beautiful environment for visitors and locals alike. This peaceful lake is famous for its stunning turquoise waters, which reflect the rocky peak of Brünnelistock Mountain as if in a mirror. Take a walk around this tranquil Lake Obersee and enjoy the peace and quiet, or take your time and embark on an extensive hikethrough the nearby valleys, mountain passes and forests. There are a variety of activities available at the lake from camping to fishing, or simply enjoying the spectacular scenery and hosting a barbecue. With plenty of options, there's something for everyone at Lake Obersee!

HIKE DETAILS:

Start at Näfels in Kanton Glarus. You can of course drive up on the narrow mountain road to the lake and park in the parking lot (limited space) but Ihighly recommend taking the forest hike up to the lake. It is magical with views of the Glarus valley.

Once you reached Obersee you can hike around which is a must! Get your camera ready you won't be able to stop taking pictures.

The hike from Näfels to Obersee is 4 km long with 525 meter of elevation gains. The walk around the lake is 3 km long with only 32 km of elevation gains.

TIP: if you feeling adventurous there is the Ahornen-Rundweg trail starts from Obersee which is 11 km long with 660 meters of elevation. Great views. Highly recommend.
