Göscheneralp is a mountain paradise located in the beautiful Uri mountains. Hikers, climbers, and nature lovers alike can enjoy exploring the trails around the majestic Gotthard Massif or take advantage of five Swiss Alpine Club mountain huts with incredible glacier views.

HIKE DETAILS:

Start: Göscheneralpsee dam. If you take the bus your destination is Göscheneralp, Dammagletscher.

The hike around the lake can be doable in any direction.

Distance of the trail is 9 km and can be hiked a bit under 4 hours. Elevation gain is approximately 450 meter.

I would rate it easy but there some parts where the trail gets narrow therefore take extra care especially with children.

TIP: in case you would like something challenging in the area I recommend hiking up to Bergseehütte and complete the Crocodile via ferrata. It's a K3 level via ferrata, with incredible views of the lake and the surrounding glaciers. Don't forget: you need an equipment ( harness, helmet, via ferrata lanyard)
