Piazza Venezia is one of Rome's most iconic and bustling squares, featuring an awe-inspiring combination of ancient and modern. Located at the foot of Capitoline Hill, the piazza serves as a central hub for many of Rome's thoroughfares. It earns its name from the nearby Palazzo Venezia, which served as the Republic of Venice's embassy. Mussolini even gave public speeches here to his adoring fans in the 1920s-40s. The site of Italy's Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in the Altare della Patria also resides here. Visitors can find several other famous landmarks nearby, such as the Roman Forum, Pantheon and more. Excavations here revealed remains of Emperor Hadrian's Athenaeum, furthering Piazza Venezia's historical mystique. Whether you are looking for amazing sights or captivating history, Piazza Venezia will not disappoint!
