Chefchaouen is a stunning city located in the foothills of the Ka'ala mountain in Morocco. Nicknamed as the "Blue Pearl", Chefchaouen is known for its breathtaking shades of blue and white, painted along the traditional houses found throughout the area. This beautiful city was established in 1471 as a military outpost by Ali ibn Rashid al-Alami to defend against Portuguese invasions and grew quickly with an influx of refugees from Spain, resulting in a unique combination of Andalusian, Granadan, and Ghomara cultures. Today, Chefchaouen is a bustling tourist hub popular for its rich history and diverse landscape, featuring rolling mountains, ancient forests, and lush valleys dotted with enchanting olive and fig plantations, water mills, and handicrafts markets.
