The Parish Church of Santo Stefano a Sorano in Filattiera is one of the oldest buildings in the Lunigiana, and one of the most important in the Province of Massa. Archaeological investigations have revealed a pagan cult center here, and not far away lies the Ligurian necropolis of Quartareccia. The earliest traces of the Pieve di Santo Stefano date from the 6th century, at the time of the Byzantine reconquest of the peninsula.
Interesting also is the use, or reuse of prehistoric stele statues just inside to door to the left.
There is a good sized parking lot in front of the church, and a pathway leads you to the tourist offices.
