Moraine Lake is another classic location to consider when eloping in Banff. However, accessing Moraine Lake has recently changed, with personal vehicle access to the lake now restricted. You can only access the lake from June-October (unless you feel like hiking or skiing in during the winter months).

The easiest way to access the lake is to arrange a shuttle with Moraine Lake Bus Company, Three Sisters Taxi, Moraine Lake Sunrise Shuttle, or Fairview Limo. For a cheaper option, you can book a Park and Ride Shuttle.

For a truly seamless and personalized experience, I recommend booking a private shuttle or taxi. This option allows you to customize your transport according to your preferences and needs. You can coordinate with the guide for the perfect timing, whether it's for sunrise, sunset, or any other magical moment. Additionally, it enables you to stay at the lake for as long as you desire, providing ample time to soak in the breathtaking scenery and exchange vows amidst nature's beauty. Plus, you can bring along all your loved ones, creating cherished memories together in this awe-inspiring setting.

Booking a room at Moraine Lake Lodge also allows you to drive up the road and gives you a parking spot near the lake in the Lodge’s parking lot. You only get access for 1 vehicle per room, so any other vendors and I would not be able to drive up. We would either have to take the shuttle or you could drive down the road and pick us up at Lake Louise Village. However room rates range from $900-$1100 per night, so it's a bit more expensive and you have to book pretty far in advance.

The lake does get quite crowded, especially for sunrise on the rockpile. For a more private experience, consider sunrise along the shore rather than the rockpile, or anytime around sunset/evening.

Once at the lake you can explore various hikes from Moraine Lake, such as the popular Rockpile and Shoreline walks, and in fall, consider hiking up Larch Valley for stunning views of the golden larches.

You can also rent a canoe from the lake for around $160/hr.
