Message from Norðurá Fishing Guide

Mývatn is an incredible lake located in the north of Iceland, not far from Krafla volcano. Home to unique species of both European and North American birds such as tufted duck and Barrow's goldeneye, Mývatn is one of the top bird-watching locations in Europe. The beautiful landscape is dotted with volcanic landforms like lava pillars and rootless vents, and the surrounding wetlands create perfect nesting grounds for the birds. Visitors can also enjoy various outdoor activities, such as fishing for brown trout and Atlantic salmon on the effluent river Laxá or even running a marathon around the lake during the summertime! Mývatn is truly a must-see destination for everyone fascinated by nature and wildlife!
