Jökulsárlón is a glacial lake located in the southern part of Vatnajokull National Park, Iceland. It developed into a lake after the glacier started receding from the edge of the Atlantic Ocean. Jökulsárlón is now about 8km from the ocean's edge and covers an area of around 18km2. Home to seals, seabirds, skuas, fish and other wildlife, as well as a major tourist attraction because of it's luminous blue icebergs, Jökulsárlón has been featured in four Hollywood movies and its stunning views have made it one of Iceland's must-see destination. Tourists can take boat trips in the glacier lake and experience the outwash plain Breidamerkursandur, known for being home to Arctic Skuas.
