Message from Rannvá Joensen

The legend of Kópakonan, also known as the Seal Woman, is a popular folktale in the Faroe Islands. It tells the story of a young farmer who steals a seal woman's skin while she's dancing on land, forcing her to become his wife and bear his children. When he accidentally leaves the key to her skin at home, she returns to the sea with her seal family, cursing the village of Mikladalur for their actions. To this day, locals believe that tragic events in the village are a result of her curse.
