To start the day, you should grab a coffee to go from Simply (2) and bring it to your first spot on the list (3). This viewpoint is amazing and gives you an idea of the city. After updating your social media here, you can take a stroll on the stunning Avenue (4) where you can get your shopping on if you like fancy stuff. Avenida Liberdade runs all the way down to the square (5), Praca do Comercio, which we have as the next stop. This is the pulse of Lisbon and one of the most beautiful places to see.
Now it is time for a treat. At As Bifanas do Afonso (6), here you have to order a Bifana and stuff it with mustard. It is best enjoyed with an ice-cold beer.
Now we continue the walk up to Castelo de Sao Jorge but on our way, take a look at the smallest library in the world (7). Hopefully, it is open, you never know. Head up the stairs and make your way to the next spot (8), where you can order one of the absolute best Pastel de Natas in town. Now, with a belly full of food, head up to the Castle (9). If you want to spend 15€ on entry, you can enjoy amazing views from the inside but if not, just walk the street in the castle on your way to the next point on the list.
Now, the Alfama walk starts, and we start with the most important monument of Lisbon, the Sé church (10). There is an amazing viewpoint near the church that you should take a look at before continuing up to our favorite viewpoint in Alfama (11). Here, there is always nice live music and a cozy vibe, but this is also where we head deep into the narrow hilly streets of Alfama. When reaching the National Pentagon (12), you are in the neighborhood we fell in love with when we visited Lisbon for the first time (13). Enjoy the surroundings at the area where you’ll have a super low-key and traditional lunch. This place is as Portuguese as it gets, and we love it.
(14) Get lost in the streets of Alfama during sunset and enjoy a nice dinner at one of the last two points on the list (15) and (16). At the last place, you can sit and enjoy a free Fado show with your dinner, but remember to book in advance as they are very popular.
