This trail starts at the top of Mt Niesen and hikes down to the Schwandegg middle station. You start along a dramatic ridge, then descends through alpine meadows, with spectacular views the entire way.

It’s a mountain trail that requires good shoes and steady footing, but it’s not particularly dangerous, suitable for average hikers and children with hiking experience.

When to go: The funicular trains to the viewpoint run through early November. You can hike this trail as long as there is no snow. Check webcams and status on Niesen website.

By car: 25 min drive from Interlaken. Parking next to funicular station.

By train: Mülenen, 50 min by train from Interlaken
