Piz Nair is a tall mountain peak above St. Moritz in southeastern Switzerland. It is accessible with a cable car, so non-hikers can enjoy the views without all the work.

At the top, you’ll find a restaurant where you can enjoy a meal with a view. We suggest making the very short climb to the tallest rocky point for even nicer views for only the tiniest amount of work. After taking in the view, you can ride the cable car back down.

Optional hike

This mountain is not the best for hiking, since most trails are for mountain biking instead, making it a bit scary as they zoom down at break-neck speeds.

But we really enjoyed the trail down to the Corviglia middle station. The trails wanders through a unique rocky landscape, which eventually turns into alpine meadows. You'll visit Lej Alv, a beautiful bright blue reservoir with a walking path around and picnic areas.

The hike ends at Corviglia, where you can ride the mountain railways back down to St Moritz. Before you go, we suggest stopping at the Alpina Hütte for lunch, about a 10 min walk up from Corviglia. The food is good and the views from their terraced outdoor seating are spectacular.

Optional trail: moderate • 1h40 • 4.2 km • 480m down
