Galapaguera de Cerro Colorado is a renowned tortoise reserve in the highlands of San Cristobal Island. Established in 2002 by the Galapagos National Park Service, this park is home to both adult and baby Galapagos giant tortoises, as well as other wildlife and native vegetation. Visitors can explore the 30-acre reserve at their own pace, spotting adult tortoises wandering freely, observing baby tortoises housed in protected enclosures, and marveling at the rare lava lizards, mockingbirds, and finches unique to the island. A visit to Galapaguera de Cerro Colorado is a perfect day trip for those interested in learning about the local wildlife and conservation of the archipelago, or just hoping to have an up-close encounter with the iconic giants of the Galapagos. This reserve is usually part of the Highlands Tour (Tour Parte Alta) that also takes you to the El Junco Lagoon and to the Puerto Chino Beach.
