Joshoko-ji Temple is connected to the imperial family and has one of the most impressive sakura trees that I've ever seen - Kokonoe Sakura. It's a cherry tree that was planted by an Emperor over 650 years ago, and it is simply jaw-dropping (and not only when it is in full bloom). Unfortunately, the tree is starting to show its age. Only one branch still has flowers, and there's a big hole at the base (but they have planted a new set of cherry blossoms around it). It is one of my favorite spots for cherry blossom viewing because the place is full of other sakura trees and looks absolutely fantastic.
Highly recommend visiting it during sakura season (usually in early April, but of course, it highly depends on the weather). I will do my best and will repost the sakura blooming prediction map to my stories, once the map is released in Japan.
*Please note that you can't reach this spot by public transport or on foot. It is only accessible by car.
