Casa de Santa Maria, a former private residence located in Cascais, Lisbon District of Portugal, is now a museum and a perfect place to experience the beauty of Portuguese architecture. This spectacular house blends stylistic elements of several different designs. It was built in 1902 as a wedding present for Jorge O'Neil's daughter and architect Raul Lino was the mastermind behind its design, using only materials found within Portugal. Inside this building you can enjoy unique horseshoe arches connecting the central rooms; 17th century Azulejo tiles and a wooden oil-painted ceiling attributed to António de Oliveira Bernardes. Notable former guests include former US President Richard Nixon and King Umberto II of Italy. This enchanting house is open Tuesday to Sunday so don't miss out on the opportunity to explore its beauty!
