The Igreja do Carmo and Igreja dos Carmelitas in Porto are unique, historically significant churches located at the corner of Praça de Carlos Alberto and Rua do Carmo. With rococo-style exteriors and luxurious interiors, these two churches are worth a visit for anyone interested in Portuguese history and architecture. Visitors to Igreja do Carmo should make sure to see the azulejo-covered exterior with religious sculptures, as well as the seven gilt altars and fine oil paintings located within. Similarly, visitors to Igreja dos Carmelitas can enjoy the granite facade with its three arched entrances topped with statues, the single bell tower with blue and white tiles, and the light interior due to the white ceiling and large windows.
