Príncipe Real is a typical neighborhood in Lisbon, situated between Bairro Alto and Rato, on top of colina de São Roque ("São Roque hill"). It is home to traditional attractions such as Lisbon's Botanical Garden, the National Museum of Natural History and Science and Jardim do Príncipe Real ("Príncipe Real garden") as well as to several trendy restaurants, bars and shops, making this part of the city an interesting mix of old and new. British publication The Telegraph once noted Príncipe Real was Europe's "coolest" neighborhood.
Along Rua Dom Pedro V and Rua da Escola Politécnica, Lusideias recommends visiting Nivà Cremeria Gelateria Italiana, the best ice cream shop in town (by far), Livraria da Travessa, a renowned Brazilian bookstore, and Real Slow Retail Concept Store.
