Elevador do Lavra or Ascensor do Lavra ("Lavra Funicular") is one of the three funiculars in Lisbon that are still operational, together with the Elevador da Glória ("Glória Funicular") and Elevador da Bica ("Bica Funicular"). Elevador do Lavra is the oldest funicular in the city, having been inaugurated in 1884.
The ride has a duration of just two minutes, but joining this trip has the potential to take passengers two centuries back.
If you used the metro or bus system less than 60 minutes prior to joining this short trip, the ride will be free of charge since you can hop on and hop off of several transportation modals in the city within a one-hour time frame.
Lusideias' recommended next step from here would be visiting Jardim do Torel ("Torel garden") and its great viewpoint overlooking Avenida da Liberdade ("Avenue of Liberty").
