Praça do Giraldo ("Giraldo Square") is the epicenter of the city of Évora, located right in the middle of its historic center. Its most notable landmarks are the Igreja de Santo Antão ("Saint Antão church") and the Chafariz da Praça do Giraldo ("Giraldo Square's fountain").

This is the ideal place to spend some time watching locals and tourists pass by, drink a cup of coffee, do some window shopping and enjoy the unique atmosphere this city has to offer!

Praça do Giraldo pays homage to Geraldo Geraldes, also known as Geraldo sem Pavor ("Gerald the Fearless"), a historical Portuguese warrior and folk hero of the Reconquista period. Geraldo allegedly led Christian troops to expel the moors from Évora back in the 12th century.
