The Sagehen Creek Trail is a east mostly flat trail for hikers of all ages and abilities, especially in the Spring with wildflowers and for Fall colors. Located just 10 minutes away from the intersection of I-80 and 89 North overpass in Truckee, this 6 mile (3 mile 1 way) out and back has something to offer everyone. With an easy difficulty rating and flat terrain, the trail meanders along Sagehen creek and provides views of the beautiful Stampede Reservoir. Bring your cameras, plenty of water and snacks, as there are plenty of places to stop and savor the scenery along the way.

Also in the Fall the Kokanee Salmon spawn up the creek.

Local Tip: This is is very popular and a Truckee favorite so it can get busy, so go early and on a weekday if possible. But this is a favorite hike of mine in the Fall and in the Spring when the wildflowers are blooming in the meadows close to Stampede Lake.
