Shirley Canyon Trail is a 4.0 mile out-and-back trail in Olympic Valley, between Truckee and Lake Tahoe. Since is a generally considered a difficult route, I would recommend taking hiking poles.

Best experienced between June and October, hikers will find winding creeks, cascading waterfalls, expansive lake views, and diverse wildlife, making it a great spot to take in nature and a dip in the creek. While exploring, visitors may come across fellow adventurers and their pup companions, who are allowed on the trail so long as they remain on a leash. Particularly intense conditions exist near the end of the hike featuring steep terrain and rocky ground, making sturdy shoes and plenty of water essential during the journey. Despite the difficulty, reviewers have noted that the trail never fails to provide a beautiful experience.
