The Rifle Peak hike is a very difficult hike but the views are insane. I would recommend taking hiking poles on this hike for sure since this is one of the most difficult hikes I've done in Tahoe.
This 3.7 mile out and back hike winds its way up, reaching almost 1,900 feet in elevation at the peak. the first part of the hike is through dense forest but the last half mile opens to high alpine meadows with beautiful views of Lake Tahoe below and Truckee in the opposite direction. Bring plenty of water, food and of course, your camera.
To reach the trailhead, park your vehicle in the available street parking in the Incline Village neighborhood off Marlene Street. Beginning at the Marlene Street Incline, the trail gently ascends the ridgeline. Initially, you'll walk along a road until you come to a water tower. From there, the trail transitions to a natural surface path.
