If you’re starting the Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route from the Toyama side, Tateyama Station is your gateway. This side of the route allows you to experience a gradual ascent, starting from lower elevations and reaching the scenic Murodo Plateau. Using public transportation is ideal, as it allows you to cross from Toyama to Nagano without backtracking, saving time and giving you a more seamless experience.
From Toyama Station:
The Toyama Chiho Railway offers a direct line from Toyama Station to Tateyama Station, taking approximately 1 hour. This is the most convenient option for starting the Alpine Route from the Toyama side.
Timetables and Tickets: Regular services run frequently, but check the timetable, especially during the Alpine Route’s peak season (mid-April to November).
