Bijodaira is an enchanting stop on the Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route, renowned for its dense, ancient forests and vibrant birdlife. This area, with its lush forests of beech and giant Tateyama cedars, offers several short, beautiful hiking trails perfect for immersing yourself in nature. Rich in wildlife, Bijodaira is home to over 60 bird species, making it a top spot for birdwatching enthusiasts. The forest also boasts giant trees, some dating back 200–300 years, with iconic Tateyama cedars over 1000 years old—designated as one of Japan's "Top 100 Forest Giants." Each tree has a unique name and a grand presence that makes a lasting impression.
