The Pantheon in Rome, Italy is an incredible Ancient Roman structure and a must-see for anyone visiting the city. Built by Marcus Vipsanius Agrippa in 27 BC, this temple was rebuilt by Emperor Hadrian sometime between 118 and 128 AD. The Pantheon is renowned for its size, construction, and design, as the iconic dome is the largest ever constructed, measuring at 142 feet in diameter and 71 feet high above its base. Inside, the immense circular space is lit solely by the light seeping through the 27-foot oculus opening at the center of the dome, thus making it the first building to favor the interior. Other than mounting a frieze of stucco decoration late in the Renaissance period, the building remains entirely true to its original form with its colored marble walls and pairs of columns that emphasize the immensity of its rotunda. The awe-inspiring Pantheon will surely leave its visitors with a beautiful memory.
